Elon Musk held a livestream at 2 a.m. and for 10 minutes of footsteps, viewers were expecting to hear Elon Musk dishing out wisdom and business tips from perhaps one of the richest men in the world.
Instead, they got 10 minutes of fart noises and sound effects, before the Tesla and Twitter CEOs logged off and disappeared from the stream. Elon Musk – who is taking a short break from posting awesome memes – co-hosted a Twitter Spaces livestream with inventor and podcaster Jason Calacanis in the early hours of Tuesday (28 February).
More than 42,000 Twitter users heard him test a “new mic” before testing a setting that changed his voice and made him stop laughing. “Sounds like helium from a balloon,” Calakanis said.
When asked what time it was in California, Musk said: “Uh, I’m here in Austin, it’s 2 o’clock.” He said: “Wait. There’s a whole sound board. Can you see the sound board?”
Viewers on stream were then treated to various noises from built-in presets, including a toilet flushing and a faucet running. Calacanis joked: “Dude, you can’t go on Twitter Space when you’re in the bathroom.” Essentially, Musk then made a bunch of fart noises and laughed along with his co-host.
Once they were down, Musk changed his voice-over setting to “back to normal” and then announced he was leaving the stream. Before leaving, Musk said, “Okay, I have to go to sleep. Talk to you later.” Another story from the life of Elon Musk…
Musk recently acknowledged that Twitter doesn’t make any money, calling the platform “the world’s largest non-profit”. In a viral tweet, he wrote: “Say what you want about me, but I acquired the world’s largest non-profit for $44B lol.”
