Ron DeSantis is hoping to appear like a normal person by appearing next to Elon Musk, the gubernatorial campaign has confirmed.
“Over the past few months, with his attacks on Disney, immigrants and books, Ron has, unfortunately, given the impression that he is gay,” said an aide. “And the white shoes didn’t help either.”
The aide said that, once voters compare DeSantis to the Twitter chief, “there’s at least a chance Ron will appear somewhat normal.”
According to the aide, the campaign decided to pair DeSantis with Musk after considering a shortlist of other foils, including Mickey Rourke, Dennis Rodman and Ginny Thomas.
In an official statement about his joint appearance with DeSantis, Musk said he was “thrilled” that he had finally convinced someone to come to the office.
Elon Musk Won’t Endorse A Presidential Candidate For Now—But Wants To Interview Them On Twitter
Amid news that Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will announce his presidential campaign tomorrow on Twitter, billionaire Twitter CEO Elon Musk said he doesn’t plan to endorse anyone for the presidency just yet.
But Twitter wants to interview more candidates so the platform can be a “level playing field” where “all voices can be heard.”
Asked whom to support for president at the Wall Street Journal’s CEO Summit conference call on Tuesday, Musk said, “I’m not going to endorse any particular candidate at this point.”
Musk said at the Journal event that he wanted someone “fairly normal” in the White House who was “representative of moderate views” that Musk believes “the majority of people in the country hold.”
Elon Musk, who previously voted for and donated to Democratic candidates, is the latest billionaire to endorse a Republican candidate.
Elon Musk said he hoped Twitter could serve as a public platform for the 2024 presidential election, adding that Twitter needed “a level playing field, a place where all voices are heard.”
And where the kind of dynamics you negotiate is important.” I can’t really see it anywhere else.
Elon Musk said he wants to interview candidates across the political spectrum on Twitter in addition to DeSantis, who is expected to announce his campaign on Twitter Space in an unscripted, real-time interview with the CEO.
Elon Musk announced he would not endorse a candidate after Sen. Tim Scott (R., S-C.) retweeted a post that featured a video of Scott’s announcement speech titled “Let’s !” and praised a Scott campaign ad that condemned hunting and promoted personal responsibility.
Many GOP megadonors are hesitant about where to put their money in 2024, don’t want to support Trump, but have faith in DeSantis. Thomas Peterffy, founder of Interactive Brokers, and John Catsimetidis, CEO of Gristeds, said they would not support DeSantis.
And billionaire Citadel CEO Ken Griffin, who praised DeSantis after he was re-elected last year, is unsure about endorsing him, The New York Times reported in late April.
People have been speculating that DeSantis, widely considered former President Donald Trump’s biggest competitor for the Republican nomination, will officially launch his 2024 campaign for months now. That’s after the news broke Tuesday that DeSantis will announce his campaign on Twitter tomorrow.
Elon Musk said the event was “the first time something like this is happening on social media.” DeSantis is also expected to appear on Fox News after the Twitter Spaces conversation to discuss his campaign.
Scott, along with former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley, former Arkansas governor Asa Hutchinson and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, will be DeSantis’ latest official challenger to Trump.
We estimate Elon Musk’s net worth as of Tuesday at $188.4 billion, making him the second richest person in the world.
Ron DeSantis Or Tim Scott? Elon Musk Says He Wants This Person To Be Next President
Tesla Inc CEO Elon Musk, who recently praised Republican presidential candidate Tim Scott, will now appear alongside Ron DeSantis as the Florida governor launches his presidential campaign.
Elon Musk’s move, which has sparked curiosity, raises questions about the tech billionaire’s preferred choice for the presidency. The tech mogul characterizes himself as a moderate and has expressed support for both Democrats and Republicans.
During an appearance Tuesday at the Wall Street Journal’s CEO Council summit, Musk reiterated his opinion that he would like to see “someone fairly normal” in the White House after the 2024 election.
However, he did not commit to saying who that candidate should be. Team Trump mocks Ron DeSantis for choosing Elon Musk over people to launch 2024 campaign: ‘That’s not how he needs to talk’
The billionaire said in a tweet last year that Florida’s DeSantis could come out on top if he was pitted against the incumbent in the 2024 US presidential election. Musk said, “If DeSantis runs against Joe Biden in 2024, DeSantis will win easily. He doesn’t even need to campaign.”
Elon Musk will join the governor of Florida on Wednesday as the latter announces his bid for the Republican nomination for president.
Last week, Elon Musk offered the opposite endorsement, praising Scott for his campaign video, where the Republican primary candidate was seen saying, “Today the chaos is steeped in a culture where everyone is affected.”

“Great statement from [Tim Scott]!” Musk said. While the billionaire shares a frosty relationship with Biden, he has also ruled out voting for Donald Trump as a contender. The billionaire had said that by the time his second term ends, the former president would be 82 years old.
The billionaire entrepreneur took a dig at Biden by suggesting an upper age limit of 70 for people running for political office in late 2021.
