On March 29, 2025, Accordiing to Fox News, tensions between Iran and the United States have once again taken center stage on the global platform. U.S. President Donald Trump has warned Iran that if it does not come to the table for nuclear negotiations, “bad things” will happen.
Trump stated, “My first preference is to work it out with Iran, but if that doesn’t happen, the consequences for Iran will be dire.” This statement comes as Iran has enriched its uranium to 60%, just one step away from the 90% weapons-grade level. Experts believe that if Iran takes the final step, it could produce a nuclear weapon within weeks.
In response to U.S. sanctions and military threats, Iran has showcased its military strength. This week, Iranian state media released a video featuring an underground tunnel system dubbed “Missile City,” stocked with missiles, launchers, and other advanced weaponry.
The video shows Iranian military leaders Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri and Commander Amir Ali Hajizadeh inspecting the tunnels. According to expert Behnam Taleblu, “Iran’s ballistic missile force remains the largest in the Middle East, and this is part of their deterrent strategy to ensure any conflict is costly and prolonged.”
Meanwhile, the United States has bolstered its military presence in the Middle East. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has deployed the USS Carl Vinson to the region, where it will operate alongside the USS Harry S. Truman.
Additionally, two B-2 stealth bombers have been stationed at Diego Garcia base, capable of carrying 30,000-pound “bunker buster” bombs. These moves serve as a clear warning to Iran and its supported Houthi militia in Yemen.
A few weeks ago, Trump sent a letter to Iran urging negotiations on its nuclear program. In response, Kamal Kharazi, an advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, stated that Tehran is willing to engage in “indirect” talks.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi clarified, “As long as the policy of maximum pressure and military threats persists, we will not negotiate directly, but indirect talks are possible, as they have been in the past.” This stance reflects Iran’s policy of avoiding direct dialogue under pressure.
In recent weeks, the U.S. has intensified attacks on Houthi rebels in Yemen, who are backed by Iran. Trump wrote on Truth Social, “The hundreds of attacks by the Houthis originate from Iran. They are providing weapons, money, and intelligence.” He believes these actions are part of a message to Tehran. If talks fail, the U.S. and Israel have raised the possibility of targeted strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
