On “The Daily Show,” Stewart humorously speculated that Musk’s gesture was an attempt to convey “my heart goes out to you,” suggesting it was an innocent mistake.

However, Stewart’s amusement turned to exasperation when Musk repeated the gesture, leading Stewart to quip, “Son of a b—h! I guess you really want the people in the back to see it.”

The Anti-Defamation League defended Musk, labeling the gesture as merely awkward.
