Elon Musk to Speak at Trump’s Pre-Inauguration Rally in D.C.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, is set to take the stage at President-elect Donald Trump’s pre-inauguration rally in Washington, D.C., on Sunday, January 19, 2025.

The event, branded as the “Make America Great Again Victory Rally,” will be held at the Capital One Arena and serves as one of the major celebrations leading up to Trump’s inauguration on January 20.

Musk’s presence at the rally highlights his growing connection with the Trump administration. Throughout the 2024 campaign, Musk openly supported Trump, even speaking at events to rally voters.

During a notable rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Musk emphasized the election’s role in preserving American democracy and economic freedom.

In addition to his vocal support, Musk has been tapped to co-lead the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) alongside entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.

The department’s mission is to streamline federal government operations and implement cost-saving measures, with a target of reducing $2 trillion in spending.

The rally will feature an array of prominent figures, including Vice President-elect J.D. Vance, Trump’s family members, and independent journalist Megyn Kelly. Organizers expect a full house, with thousands of supporters eager to celebrate Trump’s victory and hear from the high-profile speakers.

The rally is part of a packed schedule of events surrounding the inauguration. Other planned activities include ceremonial gatherings, additional rallies, and celebratory galas, culminating in Trump’s swearing-in ceremony.

Due to an expected cold snap—the coldest weather forecast for an inauguration in over 40 years—the official swearing-in ceremony will take place indoors in the Capitol Rotunda. This marks the first indoor inauguration since Ronald Reagan’s in 1985. However, all outdoor rallies, including Musk’s appearance, are proceeding as scheduled.

Musk’s participation reflects a broader trend of tech leaders aligning more closely with the Trump administration during his second term. Leaders like Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos, who previously maintained distance from Trump, are now engaging in inauguration-related activities.

This shift underscores the evolving dynamics between the tech industry and Washington, signaling a potential thaw in past tensions.

As Musk prepares to address Trump supporters, his message is expected to focus on innovation, efficiency, and the future of American leadership in technology.

His role at the rally solidifies his position as both a leading voice in the tech world and a key figure in the incoming administration.

The pre-inauguration rally, featuring a mix of political celebration and visionary speeches, is shaping up to be a defining moment for the Trump-Musk alliance and a powerful kickoff to the president-elect’s second term.
