Elon Musk announced that the satellite internet service Starlink is now active in Armenia

Elon Musk announced that SpaceX’s satellite internet service, Starlink, is now officially active in Armenia. This achievement makes Armenia the 130th country in the world where Starlink’s high-speed internet service is available. This step is a significant move toward transforming connectivity across the nation.

Musk made the announcement through a post on X, responding to a confirmation from Starlink’s official account. Armenia’s Minister of High-Tech Industry, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, also welcomed the launch, highlighting its potential to bridge the digital divide. He wrote on social media, “Starlink services are now available in Armenia, marking a major step toward expanding reliable, high-speed internet access across the country, including rural and hard-to-reach areas.”

Starlink’s rollout in Armenia followed a smooth regulatory process, with the government granting the necessary licenses by December 2024. Testing was completed in early 2025, enabling the service to launch. For a country with mountainous terrain and remote communities, this satellite-based solution promises to deliver fast and reliable internet to areas where traditional infrastructure has failed to reach.

The impact of this launch is already generating discussion. With nearly 6,000 satellites in low-Earth orbit, Starlink’s network is designed to provide broadband speeds of 50 to 200 megabits per second, sufficient for streaming, remote work, and online education. In Armenia, this could open up new opportunities for economic growth, digital inclusion, and even security, as reliable communication becomes available nationwide.
